About

The Glengower forms part of Victoria Terrace at the north end of Aberystwyth’s grand Victorian promenade. Aberystwyth has remained a traditional seaside town making it a great place to live, study or visit.  The large university attracts many new students each year to the area giving the town a vibrancy year round.

The Glengower has a warm and relaxing pub feel despite its home being two grand old Victorian seafront villas.  The old place has managed to retain many of its original features from that period.  The ground floor hosts our relaxing and friendly pub with its open fire, rustic furniture and large bay windows overlooking the beach.  Whilst upstairs you will find our en-suite bedrooms spread over three floors, many enjoying sea views.

Our reputation for our beer has spread far and wide with ale lovers travelling near and far for a pint!  We have received continual support from CAMRA featuring us in their national ‘Good Beer Guide’.

Our love of food and our passionate chef team in the engine room of the Glengower has also meant that we now have an ever-growing reputation for our food, and now regarded as a destination in the area for dining.  Our menu is homemade, fresh and locally sourced where possible featuring many favourite pub classics as well as our blackboard of daily seasonal specials.

Sun Terrace

Our sun terrace sits right on the promenade overlooking the beach and the sea, it’s a popular spot during the summer months for enjoying a refreshing drink or bite to eat. The sunshine crests over the building around lunchtime and remains with us for the rest of the day before setting straight out at sea in front of the pub. The most stunning sunsets can be seen during the summer months from our terrace.

Wifi

Our pub has WIFI throughout so please just ask a member of the team for the code.

Parking

Parking is available in the surrounding streets or in the ‘Pay & Display’ council car park just around the corner from the pub.

Free parking is available in front of the pub on the promenade for a maximum of 4 hours from 8am to 6pm. So if you were to arrive after 2pm you will be fine until the following morning. Unlimited free parking is available on the streets behind the pub.

‘Pay & Display’ parking is available in the North Road Clinic car park which is just around the corner from the Glengower, at the end of North road closest to the pub.

Wheelchair Access

Access to the Glengower is by a couple of steps into the pub and unfortunately we do not have toilets on the ground level.

Dog Friendly Pub

Well behaved dogs are welcome both inside and outside of the pub but we do request that they please be kept on a lead at all times.  Please just ask a member of the team if you cannot see a water bowl and would like a drink for your dog.  Feel free to make us the last port of call on your walk, there’s always some treats and dogs drink for free!

Unfortunately dogs (and other pets) are not allowed in our bedrooms. Our guest rooms are pet free.

Our History

‘The Glengower’ has evolved over many years but is fundamentally made up of the conversion of two seafront Victorian terraced villas.  As with many seaside resorts the grand villas and houses of Victorian industrialists and statesmen, became too large and expensive for a single family to inhabit and so got converted into B&Bs, guesthouses, or boarding houses.  Read more about the history of the Glengower HERE.
